Today marks the 2nd anniversary of Fr. Peter Colapietro’s passing.

Fr. Peter’s favorite Saint was St. Michael the Archangel.

Prayer to St. Michael The Archangel:

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.  May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Although this article was published in 2011 about Fr. Peter it rings true today about the good people of New York, as well as Americans. His comment, “More than anything, this is still a city of hope” I believe can be expanded to all of America. Unfortunately, his reference to the bickering in Washington rings so true even today.
After a week of some very sad news and the terrible slaughter of Jews in their synagogue for Shabbat services lets take Fr. Peter’s faith and hope in all people working for the common good across America.

It is with a heavy heart that that we have just learned of the passing of Monsignor Tom Leonard who was very close friend and confidant of Fr. Peter.
Although Monsignor Tom had retired and was living at St. Malachy’s he was very much involved with the parish activities. During Fr. Peter’s long illness Monsignor Tom handled a number of issues in Peter’s name. He also visited Peter at the various health facilities, saying mass with him and bringing the sacraments.
He will be greatly missed. A true shepherd to the people”
